When Windows 7 does not boot successfully, it will open and run the System Recovery Option and try to resolve it automatically. If the issue still exists, you are able to access the System Recovery Options yourself with the Windows 7 Installation Disc and continue troubleshooting.Set the CD/DVD drive to boot before the hard drive. To do this, go to your BIOS (continually press the Delete key immediately after turning on the system). Under the [Boot] tab, use your keyboard to move the CD/DVD drive to the top of the boot list. After that is complete, press F10 to Save and Restart with the Windows 7 Installation Disc in the drive. When prompted, Windows will tell you to press any key to boot from the CD/DVD drive. Follow the instructions. Go through the options and then click [Next].New click [Repair Your Computer].Select the Windows installation you want to repair, then click [Next].The System Recovery Options menu will open. Try the Startup Repair option first. If that doesn't work, use the System Restore.
Startup Repair -- Use this option first. It will detect and fix problems that can prevent Windows from starting normally, such as missing or damaged system files.System Restore -- If Startup Repair does not work, try performing a System Restore. This helps you restore your Compix system's computer files to an earlier point in time.
Windows Reinstall -- Reinstalling Windows 7 is the last option if nothing else works. If this is done, all your files will be backed up in a folder called old.windows after the installation is complete. But if this is performed, you'll need to reinstall the Compix drivers and software either from www.compix.tv/downloads/downloadselect.html or the Compix installation DVD.

Set the CD/DVD drive to boot before the hard drive. To do this, go to your BIOS (continually press the Delete key immediately after turning on the system). Under the [Boot] tab, use your keyboard to move the CD/DVD drive to the top of the boot list. After that is complete, press F10 to Save and Restart with the Windows XP Installation Disc in the drive. When prompted, Windows will tell you to press any key to boot from the CD/DVD drive. Follow the instructions. After the system restarts, you will see a message saying "Press Any Key to Enter Setup". Press any key now. Windows will begin loading the Setup files.
Once it completes loading, you will be asked if you would like to Repair or Setup Windows. Press "R" to Repair Windows. You will be redirected to the Command Prompt.Note: If there is an error during Setup, please dust off the Installation Disc. If you see scratches, the disc will not read properly. If the Setup does not find any previous installation of Windows, you will need a floppy disc containing your motherboard's RAID drivers. This is necessary for any RAID or SATA hard drive purchased before 2008. Please see step A below for instructions. If you do not have a floppy drive, you will need to install one before continuing. The Windows Setup will not detect USB drives.
Type in "chkdsk" (check disk) and press Enter. Now you will receive a message asking which Windows you would like to repair. Type "1" and press Enter.Windows will scan your disk for bad sectors and try to fix them. When it finishes, it will take you back to the Command Prompt.Type in "fixboot". Once that finishes, type "exit".If the Compix system still does not load Windows properly, you will need to re-install the Windows OS. Restart the system and press any key when prompted. Windows will once again go through the setup. When you get back to the Repair or Setup Windows prompt, press Enter to continue.
Now select the partition Windows is currently installed on and delete it. This will permanently delete all files on your system. Once deleted, create a new partition. Make sure the partition is "C".Note: For rack-mount users with a multi-use card read in front with USB connection, sometimes "C" is not immediately available and a different partition letter is selected. If this is the case, delete it and try again until "C" is selected.Note: You should not have any USB drives connected at this time.
Once you have a new partition labeled "C", press Enter to format the new partition.Once formatted, Windows will go through the installation. When Windows boots up for the first time, you will need to install all motherboard drivers before installing the Compix board and software. To do so, you will need the model number of the motherboard. You can find it between the PCI slots on the motherboard itself. Go to the manufacturer's website and search for that model number's drivers. You will need to transfer all driver files to a USB drive and bring that to your Compix system. Your Compix system at this point does not have internet access, as you need the Ethernet drivers installed first. If Setup does not load correctly because it has not found any previous Windows installation, you will need the motherboard RAID drivers before continuing. To do so, find your motherboard's drivers from the manufacturer's website.
The motherboard model number is located between the white PCI slots. Once located, access the motherboard manufacturer's website (ASUS or Intel) and search for drivers for that model.Once you find the drivers, download the RAID drivers and extract the content.
Insert a floppy disc into the computer, erase all of its contents, and copy the extracted content. You have now created your floppy RAID disc.Note: Do not copy the folder the content is in, copy only the content itself.
Restart your Compix system with the Windows installation disc inside. Press any key when prompted. When the Setup first appears, it will ask you to press F6 to install RAID drivers. Press F6 now. If you do not see this, please restart your Compix system and try again. After the Setup completes, you will be prompted to install the RAID drivers. Once installed, continue the Setup by going back to setp 4 above.

AllCG Control Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, and Hue Adjustments Do Not Work

The Color Control settings within the AllCG Control are specifically for incoming video. These settings do not apply to the Compix graphics themselves.
These controls are helpful if you are connected downstream and the incoming video does not match the graphics. Also, this option is useful when looping one channel into the other.
When adjusting these values, it is highly recommended that a wave form monitor be used.

Problem: Receiving a Cannot find PROGRAM video board! when either opening Persona or accessing the Option -> Video -> Video Board section.
Cause: This error occurs when the Compix Persona software cannot access the Matrox board drivers and/or hardware.
Solution:
This error might either occur because
You are opening a Persona file without the Persona application open. Please be sure the Persona application is opened first.
You have incorrect drivers installed for your Matrox hardware. Please be sure that Matrox DSXLE2 boards have Matrox Utilities 7.5 installed, and that MatroxDSXLE3 boards have Matrox Utilities 9.4 installed.
How to find Matrox board versions: Within your lower toolbar menu (where the clock is), right click the blue M icon and press Open X.info. Under the Hardware dropdown you will see Hardware Model. How to find what Matrox Utilities version: Within your lower toolbar menu (where the clock is), right click the blue M icon and press Open X.info. Under the System dropdown, you will find Matrox DSX.utils.
You are running as a Standard User. Please be sure to run as Administrator when using Compix Persona. Persona requires read/write access to folders within your C:\ as well as communications with the Matrox hardware. Restricting access will prevent it from communicating properly.
All drivers are within the downloads page of www.compix.tv, and it is recommended to uninstall previous drivers and restarting your system before installing new ones.
If the above doesn't help, and you still receive the error message, it's recommended you perform a System Restore to an earlier time. Do so by going to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore. Press "Show more restore points" if a date is not available that you prefer. After the System Restore is complete, try opening Persona again and see if it functions properly.

How do I setup an RSS Feed in AutoCast?

$

0
Step 1
Create your RSS page in GenCG before linking the RSS feed. Begin by opening GenCG. Create two blank pages: the first page will be our static RSS page while the second page will be an RSS crawl. With the first page selected, create a few text boxes and graphics as seen in the image below. Your textboxes act as placeholders for the RSS data, therefore the content of each text box does not currently matter. Add alias names of "1Title", "2Title", and "3Title" on all dynamic data fields. All alias names must have the form "#" + "text" for AutoCast to communicate properly. (To create alias names for your placeholder objects, right click the object and select [Assign Alias]. They are highlighted in yellow.)
Step 2
For the second page, change your Page Mode from [Still] to [Crawl] (located on the upper GenCG toolbar). To create dynamic crawls for AutoCast, you will need 3 alias objects: background bar, an image you would like to display between feeds, and your default text. If you do not want an image to display between feeds, simply make the image object 100% transparent. For the default text, be sure to type "@1" so that AutoCast can communicate properly. Be sure to set the desired font type, size, and color of the text to be displayed. After creating the objects, right click on each one an select [Assign Alias].
- Image alias name should be "@crawl_image"- Default text (@1) alias name should be "@crawl_data"- Background bar alias name should be "@crawl_bar"
Step 3
Go to [File] > [Save As] and save your RSS GenCG file inside the C:\Program Files\Compix\AutoCast\Templates folder. Close GenCG and open AutoCast. AutoCast now displays your new pages under the Template List to the left. They are named GenCG_file_name:1 and GenCG_file_name:2.
Step 4
Click on your first RSS page (GenCG_file_name:1) and check [Watch] in your Play Item Edit Window. Change your Data Type at the top to [RSS]. Now copy and paste your RSS feed address into the [Feed Source] in AutoCast and click [Add]. AutoCast will now load all data from the RSS feed. Click [OK]. You can now see the RSS feed data on the page within the Play Item Edit Window. Select [Fit] or [Wrap] if neccessary, otherwise click [Add] to add the page to your PlayList.
Step 5
Select the crawl page in the Template List. The three alias names appear in the Play Item Edit Window alias column. Check the [Watch] box and change the Data Type to [RSS]. Check the [Crawl Sequence] box at the top next to Data Type, then copy and paste the RSS feed address into the [Feed Source] field. Click [Add].
Step 6
Click on the Field column heading located at the bottom of the window, and then select the Title column heading above the first RSS feed data. You will now see the label "Title" under the Field column. Click [OK] Your RSS feed will load accordingly. Now click [Add] in the Play Item Edit Window to add the page to the PlayList. Your RSS feeds are ready for air.

How to Add Station ID inside Data Line within NewsScroll

$
0
0
If you would like to place a station ID at the end of each data line, then you’ll be adding it inside the GenCG template itself (GenCG template is where the look and feel of the data line attributes are (font type/size, bar color, transparency, etc)).
For example, open the ex1.txt file for your lower | upper crawl (Go to your crawl area and select Open, choose the example file within the NewsScroll folder of either C:\Compix\ or C:\Program Files\Compix\).
Now to the left of the news items, you’ll see the template used, which should be ‘scroll’. Double click it.
When GenCG opens the template, you’ll see a bar with text reading @1. From the edge of the canvas where the bar starts to the beginning of the @1 is your spacing between each news item. If you would like more/less spacing, adjust the @1. Also, if you would like branding to appear in-between each news item, place it in-between as well.
Please note:
1. This works with static logos only
2. It’s recommended the logo dimensions be the size of the logo itself, not the HD/SD resolution
3. The logo will get trimmed off past the bar boundary
4. Press CTRL or ALT left | right arrows to move the @1 text horizontally

GenCG and Animations

Object Animations
Here's a quick video for importing and manipulating object animations in GenCG:
Background Animations
In addition to importing animations as objects, you can also import Background Animations by going to Insert -> Background and selecting Animation Files under Files of Type.
Although animations cannot be resized as objects, inserting background animations stretches it to your Canvas resolution. This is great for longer animations, as you could export it as 1280x720 and have GenCG enlarge it to 1920x1080. This feature can be disabled by unchecking "Scale to Fullscreen" under the Attributes tab. This is especially important if you are running into Out of Memory errors, try dropping the resolution down of the animation, then insert it in the Background to stretch.
Background animations automatically Loop as well, and because of this you are able to apply a really cool feature to your pages.
If you copy & paste the same Background animation to multiple GenCG Pages, then select Manual | Auto IN under the Run tab, then the animation will continue to loop when different pages are called up and played. This allows you to have multiple textual elements transition from Page to Page without disturbing the looped animation.
Importing Animations
GenCG accepts sequential Targa files for animations.Once you have the Targa sequence, go to Insert -> Animation and change the Files of Type at the bottom to Image Files.Click on the first image in your sequence and open it.It will ask a couple questions, first: do you want the same name as the sequence? second: do you want to delete the image sequence after conversion. You can now play the animation; it will only show on your video output or though the output window of the GenCG Edit software.
Working with Animations in GenCG
Manually | Automatically Transition Text over Animations
Insert the animation object and insert additional text. If you want to position text over the animation, change your Page Mode from Still to Multilayer in the top toolbar and move it to a different layer (4x icons on top tool of Front, Back, Forward, Backward). In the Effects tab, there is a checkbox named 'Obj'. This will allow you to manually (unchecked) or automatically (checked) play through additional layers in your Page. You are also able to combine text and shape objects into a single layer by grouping them together (right click -> Group/UnGroup). By doing this, you are able to apply a single transition to the group so they play in unison.
Delay Objects from Playing
If you have the animation transition in through your animation software, like After Effects or Motion, and want to hold your GenCG text objects from coming in for a period of time, then there is a way to delay objects from playing. First, change your Page Mode from Still to Multilayer in the top toolbar and move your layers accordingly (4x icons on top toolbar of Front, Back, Forward, Backward). Now, go into your Effects tab and select the object you would like to delay on your Canvas. With it selected, in the Effects tab you will see 3 numbers next to your Objects effect area. The first number, 1.0, is your Transition Effect time, which is 1 second. If you wanted a 15 frame transition, move the slider to 0.5. The second number is used for the Blinking Effect (B), and controls the blinking speed. The last number is 0, and is for the delay time. If you want to hold the object from playing for 15 frames, set the value to 0.5.
GenCG Animation Basics
1. Animations cannot be resized in GenCG. If the animation needs to be modified, please alter it's adjustments outside of the GenCG software and re-import.
2. By default, animations only play once. When the animation has played, it will automatically hold on the last frame until the next Page is called in your Page List. You are able to adjust this by selecting your animation in the GenCG Canvas and going to your Attributes tab. There is an Animation Loop setting within. If you wanted the animation to continually play until the next Page is called, set the animation to 0 (Infinite). If the Animation Loop is set to 100, then it will play continuously if unattended without transitioning to the next Page.
3. Even though you don't see Animations play within your GenCG application, you are able to view animations and transition effects in your GenCG Edit software (with an external AMD graphics card installed). You can either play your Pages in a pop-up window or through your second VGA monitor.

How to setup DASDEC with NewsScroll for EAS Alerts

$
0
0
Before setting up NewsScroll for receiving external data, first properly configure DASDEC. This instructional is for an IP configuration through ethernet. Compix will need to be on the same shared network as DASDEC, and you'll need your IP address and port number (if used). Connect both NewsScroll and DASDEC to the network before continuing.
DASDEC SETUP
1. Choose a Client Interface Name: This is to name the CG to reduce confusion between multiple devices.
2. Enable Client Interface: Check this box in order to enable the specific client that you have selected to edit, or just created.
3. Select a Protocol Option: Select 'COMPIX NewsScroll’ as your protocol option.
4. Remote CG Net Host IP and Port: In this field, type the IP address and the port of the CG that is on the same network connection that your DASDEC is on.
5. All FIPS codes trigger: Check to enable all alerts, regardless of FIPS codes, to trigger a crawl on the target CODI. Uncheck to only allow alerts for specific FIPS areas to trigger the crawl. When unchecked, you can select from the Encoder FIPS pool or the Forwarding FIPS pool to add the list of allowed FIPS that trigger this CODI alert send. After a set of FIPS codes have been selected, use the ‘Add Selected to Net CG List’ button to add the selections to the filter list (labeled as the Streaming CODI CG Net client FIPS List). Alerts to these locations will be sent to the remote CODI.
6. All EAS codes trigger: If enabled, all EAS codes will trigger the Net CODI client interface. Set the checkbox to enable/disable EAS code filtered trigger control. If disabled, then the alert EAS code is filtered for a specific match as a way to control whether or not the target CODI is triggered. If All EAS is disabled, select EAS codes from the provided lists and add to the client EAS list. If the EAS code of an active forwarded/originated alert matches any of these EAS, the alert will be sent using the Net CODI client.
7. Save configuration: When you finish making changes, click ‘Accept Changes’ to save the configuration.
COMPIX NEWSSCROLL SETUP
1. When the above configuration is set, open the NewsScroll application. Go to Options and check 'APC Control Mode'.
2. Within Options, select 'Communication Method' -> 'Socket (TCP/IP)'. If you are assigned a Port number, configure it by going to Options -> 'Set IP Port'.
3. If you would like to adjust how NewsScroll behaves during and after alerts, you can make adjustments through Options -> 'Protocol / TFT Settings'.
If you are experiencing any issues, NewsScroll keeps a LOG file of all activity being received and sent within C:\Compix\NewsScroll\LOG. Also, if NewsScroll is receiving data, but does not respond to alerts given, verify 'Use TFT Protocol' is un-checked within Options -> 'Protocol / TFT Settings'.
If you would like to adjust the look of the crawl and its data, open the crawl's template file by double clicking within the Lower / Upper Crawls Template section to the left of the UI. Once opened, the '@1' is the default crawl text attributes, and the rectangular bar is the crawls background bar.
